Its supercharged 1.5-liter inline-eight-cylinder engine with two superchargers developed approximately 425 PS in its final configuration—an impressive power output for that time. In 1951, Fangio won the Swiss, French, and Spanish Grand Prix in the Alfa Romeo 159. At the season finale on October 28, 1951, at the Circuit de Pedralbes in Barcelona, his victory secured the first World Championship title of his career, allowing him to prevail over his great rival Alberto Ascari in a Ferrari.
