No. 2599 PORSCHE
1968 Porsche 911T/R Sports Purpose / homologations-body chassis number: 118.2.0123 engine code (factory): 208 0161 engine code: 4080430 transmission serial number: 2280154-901/63 chassis number: 118.2.0123 construction year: 1968 the "Sports Purpose Programm"was concluded because of a too small number of pieces of the 911R from 1967, as this could otherwise not be homologated, therefore the change into the sport-prototypes-class, in which vehicles the veicles had certainly no chance against the "real" sport-prototypes, although the 911R was winning some road races like the "Tour de France" , Porsche had to construct his 911 competition vehicles on standard vehicles, that were produced in sufficient quantity - therefore the "Sports-Purpose Programm", that consists of speical parts and modifications, that could be retrofitted at many models to conform to the requirements of the specific racing categories, this Polo-red Porsche and the circa 30 further vehicles are very valuable because of the fact that the modifications were partially already made in the factory and it also contains parts of the three years ago sold RHD T/R and other Porsche "factory cars"(and also not listed in the Sports-Purpose documentations), - most notably in comparison with the many customer cars, that were afterwards equipped with "Sports-Purpose parts",with acquired knowledge of the African RHD T/R it can be confirmed, that the offered vehicle already manufactured in factory as T/R (911T for Group 3) and therefore has the modifications, that weren't available for retrofitted vehicles, among it ventilation metal works on the reverse of the roof (like at the 1967 R), cut out of the B-pillar and remove of the guide tube for removing the motor cover, welding of the bumpers covering holes (so that adhesive tape could rplace the standard facing), fitting of lighter carpet and roof liner together with the remove of the holder for the interior trim - that were the measures at this time to reduce the weight as far as possible, Porsche used the 911T as basic version for that factory care , because it were the simplest in the basic equipment and therefore also the lightest, additionally the vehicle has better brakes, chassis and was equipped with the engine of a 911S, all is listed in the FIA homologations documents, the engine case was also changed from aluminum to magnesium (Addendum 577/1/1E January 1968) and the back seats were removed, it has the number #11820123 because the vehicle was manufactured in September 1967, was absolutely correct by the owner equipped with an aluminum 2.0 "S" 901/902 engine (engine code: 4080430 / construction number: 10923 / half casings No. 258), the engine was complete new constructed with Mahle 2.0S pistons, and with the Weber 40IDS carburetor that is suitable to the engine , reconstruction exclusively with original marked parts (pre October 1967) and new wearing parts, among others: - converted gear unit with 904-mainshaft, to make possible the eplacement of the gear ratio , currently AA-E-I-O-V for the use on the "fast street", together with 901/904 ZF-limited slip differential, - Nadella lightweight -drive shafts for sport purposes refurbished and connected to LSD with correct original-Nadella-flanges, - 5.5″ x 15″ fox-wheels, complete refurbished and anodized, protected, according to the "uncompleted" wheels of the racing division at this time, - rare "new old " Leistritz-exhaust (photo shows the part number and date stamp "07 67") - original (NOS) Recaro sport seats 1968 - original Sigla 1968 windshield - original front and taillight - original dashboard 1968
