No. 2131 MERCEDES BENZ
Original motorsport power unit, ex Fricker Rallye Team (PP series), highly interesting original engine from the renowned Fricker Motorsport Team. The legendary rally cars PP1, PP2 and PP3 enjoy legendary status in the German rally scene today. The engine offered here has an extraordinary history - the project was largely initiated under the direction of Erich Waxenberger. Great drivers such as Norbert Haug, Demuth, Nittel and Bohne drove these vehicles in competition. The connection to Daimler Benz itself deserves special mention. Chief mechanic H.P. Brömmer, who was also working on the test in Waiblingen, marked the engine internally; according to this marking, the unit was apparently intended as a replacement engine for the PP3. Technically, it is an original factory block that was taken off the production line at Mercedes Benz and bears no engine number - a rare detail that indicates internal motorsport use. The installed injection system corresponds to the Group A rally specification; the installation of a single throttle system is easily possible. According to the information available, the engine is in unused condition and is offered in its original transport rack. A rare contemporary document from the unofficial but all the more fascinating motorsport history of Mercedes Benz.Buyer's premium 11.9% incl. VAT
