No. 1025 HANS HERRMANN
Up for sale is an exceptionally rare collector's item: the original racing suit worn by German motorsport legend Hans Herrmann during his legendary appearance at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1970. Hans Herrmann, known as one of the most important racing drivers of his time, competed in the world's toughest endurance race wearing this suit - in a year that is regarded as a turning point in the history of motorsport. 1970 was not only the first Le Mans year under the aegis of Porsche as overall winner, but also the year in which Herrmann officially declared his retirement from active racing - making this suit a highly symbolic memento of the end of an extraordinary career. About the race: The 1970 24 Hours of Le Mans is considered one of the most important and dramatic races in the history of motorsport. It was a year full of technical innovations, dangerous weather conditions and strategic masterpieces - and it was the year in which Porsche won the overall victory for the first time. Right from the start, Porsche dominated the starting field with a fleet of 917s and 908s - including the car driven by Hans Herrmann, who competed for the Porsche Salzburg works team together with Richard Attwood in a Porsche 917K. The weather was unpredictable: heavy rainfall set in time and again, demanding the utmost driving skill and courage from the drivers. While many of the favorites - including Jo Siffert and Pedro Rodríguez - retired due to technical defects or accidents, Herrmann and Attwood drove a flawless and tactically clever race. The result was a historic triumph: the Porsche 917K with starting number 23 took the first overall victory for Porsche at Le Mans - a milestone for the brand and for endurance racing. Details: Originally worn at the 24h of Le Mans 1970. Manufacturer: [100% Nomex by DuPont]. Condition: Well preserved with authentic signs of use from the race. This racing suit is not just a piece of clothing - it is a historical document of the golden era of motorsport. It embodies the fascination of speed, technology and human courage on one of the most dangerous racetracks in the world. For collectors, museums or motorsport enthusiasts, this piece is a rare opportunity to acquire a tangible piece of Le Mans history
