The 24 Hours of Le Mans 1955 is considered the most tragic event in motorsport history. During the race on June 11, 1955, there was a serious accident when Pierre Levegh's car was thrown into the crowd after a collision. Over 80 people and the driver himself died, and hundreds were injured.

Etancelin won the race as a private driver in an Alfa Romeo Tipo Monza (#2211097), ahead of Jean-Pierre Wimille and Raymond Sommer, also in an Alfa Romeo Tipo Monza. Etancelin was allowed to keep the trophy for his third victory at the Gand Prix de la Marne, including the daily newspaper with race report "L'Eclaire de L'Est". Museum quality

1928, Winner's trophy Grand Prix Bugatti Circuit de la Sarthe Le Mans June 24, 1928, bronze trophy on marble, design (Roger), shield with engraving "Honneur aux Sports". Base with ACO emblem and copper plaque engraved "Grand Prix", height 54 cm, weight 3.7 kg. Philippe Etancelin won the first elimination race on Bugatti T35, in his 1500cc class, with a total time of 43m.02.0 over 6 laps. In the final race, Etancelin had to retire early due to problems with his spark plugs. The overall victory went to André Dubonnet in a Bugatti T37.
