1971, Telex letter from Luigi Chinetti Motors Inc. to Ferrari, the letter refers to previous correspondence from Ferrari regarding illegal Ferrari imports into the USA and points out that its own imports were completely legal and were made with the knowledge of the US government. According to Chinetti, the actual violations were committed by private individuals or dubious dealers who imported and sold unauthorized Ferraris from Europe and Canada to the USA. Reference is also made to the liberal import regulations in the USA and that it was not possible to take action against the illegal importers and that the Ferrari factory in Europe should take stronger action against them to protect its legitimate importers in the USA, an important contemporary document which documents the direct business relationship between Ferrari and Chinetti as well as the import business in the USA
